American Economic Worsens

Americans are in trouble, they are facing a huge depression of economic crisis. A lot of people lost their jobs. There is an issue said thet one of the giant car industry Chrysler will be bankrupt, if Chrysler is bankrupt it will make a lot of people lost their jobs from their company.

This depression is the worse one since from 1930s. The number os unemployeed people is increase by 2.7 million to reach a total of 10.3 million out of  work. Some anylysts predict three million more jobs will be lost between now and the spring of 2010.

A lot of people are facing economic crisis until they stress. From the poor people one until the rich one all of them stress and always think about economic crisis.

Acoording to me all of the countries in the world must be working together and resolve this problem and help all of people in the world.

Questions:

1.Do you agree with my opinion? Why or why not?

2.What do you think another way to resolve world economic crisis?

Hello Ernesto

Welcome back to blogging in English.

However, soon you should find a reply to your blog in Indonesian from another MLC Anchor.

Here is my reply to your questions.

(1) Although in some ways the economic problems we face today have their origin in the American economy, they also affect many other countries in the world because we live in a globalized economy. Therefore, as you say, global problems need global solutions.

(2) At the same time, I also believe that the U.S. has to put its economic house in order. The U.S is paying the price of poor policies, lax regulations, and bad decisions that it made in the past.

For example, the American auto industry has been in decline for many years but it didn't do much about it. For many years now, American people themselves have chosen to buy Japanese brand cars rather than American brand cars. Why? Because they do not trust the quality of American makes. GM, Ford, and Chrysler workers are well known for demanding high wages but offering poor quality work. Whereas American workers working at Toyota or Honda plants in the U.S. demand lower wages but make a better product!

Also, the American auto industry has been slow in innovating. Their cars are not the cars of the future but the cars of the past. Companies need to innovate and offer better services and products; otherwise, the competition will take over.

Any crisis brings stress, problems, and suffering but it also teaches good lessons. Perhaps this is the time for the U.S. to learn from its mistakes and do things differently. It might even be the time for America to realize that it can learn from the successes of other countries and that might be the best lesson of all.
