Clinton calls for coordination

Hillary Clinton had a tour to Jakarta, Seoul, and Beijing, but she also went to Tokyo. He had a task to coordinate act to anticipate economic crisis. She asked Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso to meet Barack Obama at the White House next week after Hillary Clinton asked him.

According to me, this event could help our countries' crisis. That's because our country (Indonesia)
has a connection with Japan and the U.S. It would also help Indonesia.

Questions:
1. Is your opinion the same with my opinion? Why or why not?
2.What are another advantages of this event to Indonesia?

Hello Ernesto,

I agree with your opinion. Maintaining good international relations is important for any economy but it is even more important in time of crisis. The world has become an interdependent community through exports, imports, investments, and communication. Even germs have now become international, traveling in the bodies of air travelers from country to coutry (a good example is SARS).

As secretary of state, Mrs. Clinton is the highest American diplomat and her influence in American policy cannot be denied.
Therefore, Indonesia and Indonesians should appreciate her visit and impress on her that Indonesia is a responsible citizen of the world, that it has made advancement in many areas and that it is a moderate country with a progressive mind.

At the same time, some people were unhappy to see the principal of the school where Barack Obama had attended asking Mrs. Clinton to give aid to his school.

That was in poor taste as if the Indonesian government did not allocate funds to education. Matters of aid can be discussed privately and at a later time, and not in the public eye when the attention is on the guest and his/her visit.

In sum, as Hillary Clinton said, what is needed now to overcome the crisis is coordination and good relations.

Language note:
Instead of asking
Is your opinion the same as my opinion?

a better question would be

Do you agree with my opinion?
Do you have the same opinion I do?
